This weekend, the City of Bellevue, is hosting their The Eagle and Salmon Circle of Life event, as well as many other nature-orientated programs throughout the area. On Saturday, at the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center, the Eagle and Salmon Circle of Life event, will kick off. Around January, most of the salmon are returning to the rivers to spawn, and their leftovers can be found around river banks, and even pulled into the woods. This event centers around the educational and “fun” aspects of learning the circle of life, and how one animal can help another to survive. A similar event will be held on Sunday, and will be more geared towards “grown-ups”, focusing more finely on the history and natural resources of the park. Both events are free, with all ages welcomed. Check out the City of Bellevue’s calendar for more details here!
Other events, such as the Food Web – Nature’s Hungry and the Coal Creek Natural Area Ranger Hike, will also be held this weekend at the Lewis Creek Park Visitor Center and the Cinder Mine Trailhead, respectfully. These programs are also free, but are geared for people 5 years or older. Both places are rich with history and wildlife, and will be fun to roam around and explore! See you on the trail!
Bellevue reeks with natural beauty, scholarly achievements, a bursting economy, and too many amenities to count. In 2016, the Bellevue School District was rated the Top School District in Washington State, with both Newport High School and Bellevue High School ranking #2 and #4 on USA Today’s charts. The district also ranked #1 on Seattle PI’s charts, which was rated on items such as SAT scores. Bellevue Square Mall (or the Bellevue Collection) is an amazingly diverse shopping center, surrounded by foods from around the world! Other shopping centers in Bellevue include the Marketplace @ Factoria and the Bellevue-Crossroads Shopping Center. Whichever way you look at it, Bellevue has it!
