Technically, May Creek Park is on the edge of Renton and considered a Newcastle park. This neighborhood park offers a few trails for outdoor excitement! Winding down the trail will give you plenty of time to take in the scenery and natural wonder of the area. The trails offers a gorgeous creek, with thoughtfully placed benches. The trails are fairly level, making this an easy day walk for the whole family!
The May Creek Trail itself follows the historic route of the Seattle-Walla-Walla railroad – which transported coal from the Cougar Mountain Park. Nowadays, the trail is optimal for hiking, walking, and trail running. Biking may also be fun, but look out for branches and roots growing under the trail. Though this trail isn’t very long (3.5 miles one way and back), but it also semi-connects to the “Highlands Development” – which houses a network of greenbelt trails for longer excursions.
