Eat, Drink, Play & All The Things You Can Do in the Capitol Hill Neighborhood of Seattle

Capitol Hill is known for many things, including walkability, proximity, and wondrous activities at all hours of the day and night. Regardless of the block you live on, you’re only a short walk away from anything you could ever imagine.

Walk the loop at Volunteer Park and check out the Water Tower Observation Deck or Conservatory. The Asian Art Museum is also a fabulous place, but is currently closed for renovations. But, rest assured, once it’s complete (est. 2018), the museum will be back and ready with updated exhibits!

Even Cal Anderson Park and adjoining reflecting pool is only a few blocks from your front door. Enjoy sport courts, athletic field, and acres of green, grassy lawn to stretch out and relax.

Any street really, but 19th Avenue East, 15th Avenue East, 12th Avenue East, Broadway, and East Madison Street offer much of the bustling activity.

Getting your grub on has never been so easy in any of Seattle’ neighborhoods. Gluten free? Try the delicious Nuflours or Niche bakeries. HeartBeet Organic Superfoods Café and the Flying Apron also have you covered! Or, maybe your vegan? Check out Plum Bistro, Sugar Plum, the Highline, or Café Flora to indulge your every craving!

Or, perhaps you’re having trouble deciding? The great thing about Capitol Hill is the diversity. They’ve got dozens of classic, Seattle coffeeshops intermingling between American, Japanese, Mexican, Chinese, Malaysian, Nepalese, Hawaiian, Korean, Italian, Thai, traditional European, internationally-inspired fusion, desserts of every flavor, and everything in between.

Well, if that doesn’t make it easier (harder!), I don’t know what will!

Book worms also find Capitol Hill and cozy place. Several bookstores can be found down Capitol Hill streets, including Quest Bookshop, Ada’s Technical Books and Café, the Elliott Bay Book Company, Horizon Books, and Little Oddfellows. Each bookstore has its own quirks, so you may consider trying them all and picking a favorite – or two! Or three!

Heart-healthy workouts can be done at home, Mode of Fitness, Rival Fitness, or Anytime Fitness. Specialized gyms can also be found around the area, including Foundation CrossFit, Barre3, and the Seattle Boxing Gym. Enjoy yoga in the mornings? Try Sweatbox Yoga, CorePower Yoga, or Seattle Yoga Arts. Dancers can also perfect their many talents at various dance studios on the hill!

Traveling around Capitol Hill can be a trek, but you’ll always love what you find. Hidden treasures are stolen away in many Capitol Hill shops and boutiques, including thrift stores, specialty shops, and era-centric boutiques.

The Garage offers bowling and billiards alongside pub-grub inside a retro-themed building. Or Phoenix Comics and Games has a wide variety of games. Check out their event nights and weekly game nights!

Or catch a show in the evening, after a long eventful day of park-hopping, eating, and reading a newly discovered favorite title!

As I mentioned, Capitol Hill is one of the most livable places, with everything you could possibly need, all within walking distance.

Whatever you’re searching for… Whatever your idea of fun, you’ll find it here!
