The 4 Destinations of Seattle-Docked Ferries!

Since its inception, Seattle has been a hub for sea-travelers for centuries. And in the bustling Pacific Northwest, there are endless places to explore using our ferry system!

Seattle’s downtown, Pier 50 ferry docks boats destined for Bainbridge Island of Bremerton, Washington.

Bremerton lies across the Puget Sound on the Olympic Peninsula. By far the largest community on this list, Bremerton offers a bustling industry, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the Boardwalk Harborside Fountain Park, and the Puget Sound Navy Museum. A marina community, stroll down their Arts District or PSNS Memorial Plaza – or across the Manette Bridge for countless blocks of restaurants, shopping, and recreation.

The first island-community on this list, Bainbridge Island offers rich, natural beauty and small-town charm. While the Bainbridge Island terminal offers easy access to Highway 305, the small-ish downtown is nothing to bypass if you’re looking for a nice daytrip. Better yet – Summer’s coming and each month is packed with a full-schedule of events and activities!

Otherwise, Highway 305 takes into other peninsula communities such as Poulsbo, and onwards towards Highway 3.

West Seattle’s Fauntleroy terminal ferries people from West Seattle to either Vashon Island or Southworth.

Though Southworth is a small community, it offers great access to the peninsula’s scenic waterside drives and the larger city of Port Orchard. Though many refer to Southworth as a drive-through town, it offers direct routes to Manchester, Parkwood, Port Orchard, and Bethel.

Rich in history and culture, Vashon Island is both a beautiful portrayal of Washington State and home to curvy, one-lane roads around an island largely forgotten by time. Each turn shows another unique orchard or equestrian dream. This tree-haven is an amazing community and the meandering, island-round streets are perfect for a day bike ride.

In such a bustling city, sometimes we just want to slowdown and have fun in a new and vibrant area. These easy-to-get-to areas are perfect for just that! Don’t like to take the ferry? Enjoy the scenic route through Tacoma, Washington!
